Traveling exhibition for the student poster competition "Out of crisis mode" with Bremerhaven participation

From March 31 to April 24, 2025, the traveling exhibition of the 38th poster competition of the German Student Union will be shown in the Uni-Mensa of the Studierendenwerk Bremen. Among the 29 posters selected from 939 submissions for the traveling exhibition is "Word of the Year" by Kari Rohloff, who studies at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and was supervised by Prof. Nicole Slink.

"The word perspective describes a positive outlook into the future on the one hand and a point of view on the other. With an infinite number of existing perspectives, I would like to encourage people to adopt a perspective that is good for themselves and others and in which there is the possibility of creating a positive future. As perspectives can also be limiting, collective or personal changes of perspective can have a powerful effect. My poster depicts a development in which people have taken advantage of this to such an extent that it characterizes the word of the year 2024. It can be hard to take a positive perspective but I want to encourage people to be compassionate to themselves and find one that allows them to leave the feeling of crisis mode. Another question I found interesting: What is the opposite of perspective?" says Kari Rohloff about her work.

A total of 939 posters were submitted by 518 graphic & design students from 45 universities. An expert jury selected the three best works and awarded prize money of 10,000 euros.

"The traveling exhibition 'Raus aus dem Krisenmodus' gives hope. It shows the relevance of solidarity and community and illustrates the students' feelings towards the multiple crises of today. Sometimes with gallows humor. However, many of the works express in particular that it is important for them to act together. The poster by Kari Rohloff is the third time in a row that a student from Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences has been selected for the traveling exhibition. We are very pleased about this great success," says Hauke Kieschnick, Managing Director of Studierendenwerk Bremen.

The German Student Union's poster competition has been held annually since 1987 and is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The aim of the competition is to encourage students to engage with current university policy issues, develop an attitude and visualize it.

The exhibition can be viewed in the Uni-Mensa of the Studierendenwerk Bremen on the campus of the University of Bremen from March 31 to April 24, 2025 between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm. Kari Rohloff's work will also be displayed separately in the Mensa Bremerhaven.
